Saving women and children in Tanzania who are living under physical torture; walking 20 miles or 6-8hrs for less than 5 gallons of water, by constructing a water tower that will supply clean water to 23,000 people. As it stands right now, millions are facing death in the East Africa as a result of the historic drought that has caught the region, the worst drought in 60 years
In Tanzania today, women and children in Manila, and Nyaongo villages are forced to walk more than 20 miles to fetch less than 5 gallons of water from Lake Victoria, leaving home 4am returning 12 noon with half a bucket, and now facing a 60 year historic drought. The weak who cannot afford to walk to the lake, have died of dehydration or out of water-borne illnesses such as cholera, dysentery etc. when they drink stagnant and dirty water from ponds with human and animal secretion
Water within 5 minute walk will be a dream come true. It will bring improved hygienic conditions. People’s health, and lives in these communities will improve. Their economic status, agriculture, and environment will drastically change for the better. Women will be empowered and regard themselves as human as opposed to property as it is currently.
Women will be economical empowered. Academic aspect will tremendously improve in the community as many students will devote their time to study as opposed to searching for water. Lives of the people dying for water will dramatically improve
