AIF will provide quality education to 300 children in the age- group 6-14 through learning centers who are school drop outs or never been to school.A local specific and contextual curriculum will be followed. The state government syllabus up to class V will be followed in the centres as the emphasis is to help them join the mainstream education, however, the approach of teaching and learning will be different from normal regular schools keeping in mind the need of the children of this region
Kishanganj district is located in the northeastern part of Bihar. The area has witnessed tremendous population growth rate of 31.5% in the last decade with little development to support the population.Most of the children drop -out from schools.Many children despite enrolment in government schools in Pothia block do not go to school as there is limited educational activity within the school.The literacy rate is still lowest in Kishanganj and it is lowest among the Muslim and other marginalized
The learning centers will ensure that children continue with their education.Relevant educational material, books and learning aids would also be available for the children to be able to learn well. The girls would be encouraged to study at the learning centers.Learning centres will impart gender sensitive education to children.
The long term impact would empower children with information ,knowledge and skills.It will create recreational avenues and opportunities for learning. The special educational interventions will address basic needs of the children to discover their own potential. it will help in reducing the drop-out rate of the children and will raise the educational status of the block in the long run. It will bring into fold all those children who are never been to schools.
