DIL provides quality education to underprivileged children across Pakistan. This project will improve education in Sindh for 10,000 students. Through this project: girls' schools will be upgraded to Grade 10 where possible; schools will be equipped with more resources & teachers, thus increasing enrolment capacity for girls; and life skills and vocational training program for students will be provided. Already DIL has proven success in this area with over 75% girls enrolment and 1% dropout rate.
In Khairpur gender inequalities still exist. Female literacy is 25%. Recently a woman was murdered in an honour killing. Out of fear women of an entire tribe moved out of the area. Since then an education project is without a manager; a school is without its principal; a hundred children are awaiting their teachers.
There is a high demand from parents to enrol their children, especially girl, in quality schools. School facilities have limited capacity. And quality teachers are hard to find.
The project will improve the lives of more than 10,000 children by providing quality education and affecting the environment they learn in. Existing schools will be upgraded with extra classrooms and teaching equipment to increase enrolment capacity. Girls keen to complete their Matriculation will be provided scholarships for transport and college fee. New Female teachers will be trained. The project will enable quality education by maintaining and managing school libraries and computer labs.
By improving the quality of education in one region we will be able to change the future of that region as a whole in the coming years. Over 5 years more than 10,000 girls will be able to access education and complete their basic schooling. Eliminating gender inequalities and bringing girls to the same footing as boys, building their confidence and self-esteem, liberating their rights is what education will do. DIL's goals are set, but we need your help in bringing them to life.
