Sorry to be late with our report  But there was so much going on!

First of all, a wish of ours became true. We have our own castration mobile in our shelter in Baile Herculane and already had the first castration missions with it!

Neutering is the most important thing and dimmer! In all of our shelters, an endless number of puppies have been surrendered in the last few months. More than in the years before - maybe it was also because COVID-19 caused that last year not so many castrations could be done.

Yesterday, a total of 55 young dogs were neutered at Aniela's private shelter. This also prevents stress in the shelter, because especially bitches then live dangerously in the kennel if they are not neutered.

We will continue on this path and hope that at some point we will be able to say that the flood of puppies is within limits.

Thank you for your support

It's May again and slowly we notice in all shelters that more puppies are being brought again. What we have prepared for this in the last months is the stocking with vaccines, microchips, passports and puppyfood. In addition, about 100 doghouses were ordered and delivered, so that all dogs and also the puppies are protected.

The first castration actions in villages around the shelters were carried out for owner dogs under Corona conditions.

Very important our last decision. In Baile Herculane we will soon have a castramobile (a used ambulance) and we will go to the remote villages in Carpathians with the veterinary team and the animal welfare officer on the spot. Then owner dogs as well as street dogs will be neutered there, so that at some far away point the flood of puppies in our shelters will come to an end.

Thank you for your support so far - but our fight goes on

Puppies in straw
Puppies in straw

Also in autumn and winter there are a lot of puppies dropped in our shelters. Especially in this bad time with snow, rain, cold temperatures, wind and long days our animal welfare activists and the vets has to look very carefully after those young puppies. In those times a lot of puppies has to be brought in clinic because a treatment in the cold air is not possible.

Also it is very important that the doghouses are filled with straw and that they all are getting good food. The Shelter workers worked the last weeks many on hours on these points.

many thanks to you all stay healthy

building roofs
building roofs

Since the last project report, despite the COVID 19 pandemic, a larger group of volunteers has actually been able to travel to our shelter. It was built roofs like crazy at 30 degrees in the shade. The volunteers have managed 140 running meters of roof.

Besides that the registration of the puppies was very important. Every summer Bucov is flooded with hundreds of puppies. So the registration of all vaccinated and old enough puppies is very important. Only then they can be seen by potential adopters in Germany and have the chance to leave Romania.

Puppies, which are often brought very young and without mother to a shelter with nearly 3500 dogs, have to be very well cared for. They need good food, must be vaccinated and dewormed. And if they survive all this, with a lot of luck they can start their journey into a better future.

In order to cover all these costs, we are dependent on each and every donor.

Many thanks to every single one

Warmly

Bettina & team of ProDogRomania e.V.

Together with our local animal welfare activists we are trying to improve the situation of the puppies. This includes also building of new kennels forthe youngsters from last year puppies and providing medical care for new arriving puppies.

Just now that I am preparing this report, we are receiving more and more reports with fotos from our animal welfare activists in Romania that more puppies are being given away.

But there are also positive moments in our work on site. Exactly when puppies just given away are adopted by Romanians on the spot with the promise that they will be neutered when they are old enough.

Our main goal to castrate owner dogs has unfortunately fallen victim to the current events (COVID19). As soon as this is possible again we will resume this goal.

Please continue to support us so that we can provide puppies with the necessary vaccinations, tick protection, good food, medical care and huts.

warmly and stay healthy

Bettina
