This project will help the vulnerable community of village Arab Solangi, District Thatta, Sindh Province, Pakistan, to enhance their livelihood. The same project has already been executed with the help of Govt. of Sindh and 13 low cost housing units have been provided to the 13 families of village Arab Solangi. 200 low cost housing units in all over District. ELI Foundation aims to develop a model village by providing 50 low cost housing units to the vulnerable families in different phases.
In village Arab Solangi there are total 63 families (504 people @ 8 person/family) who are living in a very poor conditions in a temporary bush houses. With the help of Govt. of Sindh we have provided 13 low cost houses to the 13 vulnerable families (104 peope @ 8 person / family) due to which their livelihood has improved. Due to shortage of Funds, Govt. of Sindh is unable to finance further low cost houses. Therefore the remaining families are in desperate situation.
We will construct low cost house on the same place at 412 sq.ft comprising two rooms (10 x 12 each) a veranda in between two rooms (5 x 10) and a bathroom (4 x 7) alongwith a septic tank of 15 liter for all 50 families in different phases by constructing 2 houses at a time. So that the livelihood level of these families will be upgraded. The village Arab Solangi will be converted into a model village.
All the work will be carried out through community participation as the community organization in the village does exist. It is our long term planing that after providing them a proper shelter, we will introduce other infrastructure and enterprise development project. The community of the village Arab Solangi will be participating in all the project so that the project may be sustained. Provision of low cost house in the same village will motivate the community.
