Marinoha Primary School is a disadvantaged rural school in Matobo District in Matebeleland South Province in Zimbabwe. It has an enrolment of 457 children made up 216 boys and 241 girls. The majority of these children have to endure sitting or kneeling down on dirty floors in class. Consequently, the majority of them cannot write properly. The presentation of their classwork is very poor due to that. The children are not spared the troubles either as their school uniforms are always filthy.
The children in this school do not perform as well as they ought to do due to lack of equipment. Providing them with classroom furniture is the starting point as through it they will be able to present neat, legible and high quality work. Their textbooks will also last longer. Their school uniforms will also remain clean.
It will help enhance the quality of education in that school. The children will love school more. They will be able to write properly and neatly. This will help improve their grades a lot.
The majority of the children in this school and in the whole community struggle to get places at better equipped high schools after leaving this school as their grades are often not as good. In the long run they will be able to get batter grades and get accepted at some of these better equipped high schools. The 457 children will benefit by getting to learn in a clean environment which is also good for their self esteem.
