Our Family Support Workers are transporting children on a daily basis. They transport terminally ill children and their brothers and sisters to and from hospital appointments, school, after-school clubs and on fun days out to zoos, animal farms and leisure centres.
Many of the families we support do not have access to their own transport so day trips can be limited. Also travelling with a sick child on public transport can be extremely difficult and traumatic, so the fact that our Family Support Workers offer transport for families to and from hospital appointments, and at other times where it might be important for them to have some support on their journey, makes a big difference to our families.
At present the cost of trasnsporting our families to Hopsital appointments etc is 10,000 a year, the more money we raise, the more families we can support.
At present we can only support 1/10th of the families that need our support. If we can cover the transport costs then we can use our funds to support more families.
