Our ultimate goal for children in alternative care is to help them eventually reunite with their families and lead positive, fulfilling lives. This process allows both the children and their family members to rebuild their relationships for the greater benefit of all. We focus on existing relationships, whether with immediate family or close kin, to make this transition smoother.
In August, 12 children were supported in visiting their families as part of the exploration for potential reintegration. With gradual encouragement, we have seen families opening their hearts and homes once again to welcome back their children. The children, in turn, experienced life in a different setting. One Form 2 student chose to live with his only sister, who had already left the streets, while others are still transitioning. A
Form 3 girl requested a transfer to a school closer to home, which was granted. These small but meaningful steps are encouraging signs of progress. As the saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child," and we deeply appreciate the efforts of stakeholders and partners who have contributed to making these reunifications possible.
