This project will provide quality education to 200 children in the impoverished area of rural South Africa through Early Childhood Development, After- school enrichment classes in Math, English and computer literacy and access to Scholarships. Each child receives 2 nutritious meals on a daily basis. All ages of learners are welcome to enter the program to become well educated and empowered adults.
The community of Mankosi, is located in the rural area of the former Transkei, South Africa. The youth is suffering from poor education through ill-equipped and understaffed schools. The classrooms are overcrowded and the drop out rate is 90%. Despairingly high unemployment rate and minimal job opportunity leads to most people living under the poverty line. Therefore hunger is prevalent.
The Education center hosts quality Early Childhood Development classes for 3-6 year old kids to lay a strong foundation of basic literacy and numeracy. The After-school enrichment program for children age 7-16 teaches extra Math, English and computer classes to improve these necessary skills. The scholarship program sends learners to complete their grade 10-12 to good boarding schools in the cities and provides tertiary education there after.
The Education Center will teach previously disadvantaged children to grow up to be empowered, independent citizens and become breadwinners for their families to lead the way out of poverty.
