PROJECT TO TRAIN 50 TALENTED YOUNG WOMEN AND MEN IN CULINARY ARTS TO PROVIDE SELF-SUPPORTING CARE FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE
I. INTRODUCTION
The city of Goma has become increasingly populated, with a growing number of educated people. The population is now highly focused on economic activities to cope with the current cost of living, which has been negatively affected by the war.
In addition, talented young women and men have experienced psychological trauma and lack managers and mentors to guide them in developing their skills and achieving financial independence. This is why the project aims to encourage talented young women, young mothers, and young men to improve their skills in culinary arts and catering services, enabling them to earn an income and ensure the survival and well-being of elderly people who depend on them for care and support.
II. ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
We identified and registered young women, young men, and young mothers in need of employment opportunities and professional experience.
We conducted an initial briefing on the training to be provided, including refresher training to strengthen participants’ existing skills.
We conducted research to develop a list of the materials and equipment required to ensure effective culinary arts training.
We carried out a market assessment to prepare for the purchase of the necessary materials and equipment and to assess their intended use.
We initiated marketing activities to identify potential markets and seek business opportunities for catering services.
We conducted monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.
N.B.: Due to a lack of donations and financial resources, we were unable to purchase the materials and equipment needed to launch the training and begin practical culinary arts activities
