The 2016-17 Audience Project, presenting Jack vs. Rapunzel: The Musical closed Tuesday, January 31, was a success!
The Audience Project aims to present professional theater, free of charge, to New York City students that Arts For All serves. For some, this may be their first experience with live theater.
In Jack vs. Rapunzel: The Musical has two of the greatest fairytale characters square off in a competition showing the skills of each hero. Jack and Rapunzel sang and danced showing the power of individuality in the face of a real-life classification of fairytales, the Aarne Thompson Classification System.
The talented cast of five played 9 performances to enthusiastic New York City students. Every performance, students cheered on their favorite character as they competed to increase their Classification Number. At the end of each performace, students were treated to a Question & Answer session with the cast. They asked a range of questions like is the Aarne Classification system real and how were some of the set pieces made.
Thank you once again for your support of our mission. Without your help, we would not be able to reach thousands of under-served New York City children with our accessible arts programs. Visit our website for updates and upcoming programs for 2017, we look forward to the next Audience Project!
