Activity Report – Sports Workshops (February to July)
In the first months of implementation of the sports workshops, we observed significant results that reflect the positive impact of the activities on our participants. Based on detailed observations made by educators and monthly records, we can say that the project is already providing important changes, both in technical training and in the social and cultural development of the young people served. The investment in this project is, without a doubt, an investment in strengthening a more aware youth, connected to their cultural roots and strengthened to face life's challenges.
1. Taekwondo: South Korean Discipline and Culture
In February, participants were introduced to Taekwondo, a martial art that not only works on self-defense, but also promotes discipline, respect, and self-control. We associate the practice with South Korean cultural values, with the use of Korean terms and commands, providing complete immersion. In the remaining months, the focus was on improving technique, addressing the historical origin of the sport and its development as a defensive practice. Regular practices of *kyorugui* (Taekwondo fighting) and the improvement of racket kicks have shown consistent results in the technical progress of young people.
Impact: The inclusion of Taekwondo is developing physical and mental skills in young people, such as concentration, discipline and respect for cultural differences, essential elements for their citizenship formation.
2. Capoeira: Cultural Rescue and Afro-Brazilian Identity
The Capoeira workshops not only taught the practice of sports, but also provided a deep dive into Afro-Brazilian ancestry. Capoeira, as an expression of cultural and historical resistance, was contextualized with reflections on the period of slavery and the traditional music that accompanies the practice. In this way, young people were able to resignify their identity, strengthening their sense of belonging to their Afro-Brazilian roots.
Impact: Capoeira has been a powerful tool to strengthen the identity of participants, promoting the recognition of their cultural heritage and the appreciation of Afro-Brazilian history.
3. Cooperative Games: Collective Construction and Unity
The Cooperative Games played an important role in promoting cooperation and empathy among the participants. Instead of traditional competitions, these activities were designed so that there were no losers, encouraging team spirit and collective construction. The main objective was to strengthen ties within the groups, providing a welcoming and integrated environment.
Impact: These dynamics have resulted in a greater sense of community among young people, improving essential social skills such as teamwork and solidarity.
4. African Games: Valuing Cultural Heritage
In the African Games workshops, young people had the opportunity to explore the rich African and Afro-Brazilian history. Concepts that highlight African cultural heritages and their influence on the formation of Afro-Brazilian culture were presented. This contact provided the participants with a deep identity recognition, in addition to expanding their understanding of the country's cultural diversity.
Impact: We observed a growing interest and respect for African and Afro-Brazilian history and culture among participants, contributing to a more inclusive and empowered vision of their own identity.
5. Gender and sexuality representation in sport
In the months of March and April, the activities focused on gender and sexuality issues, with an emphasis on female representation in sport. Discussions were held about the presence of women in various sports, with an emphasis on martial arts, in addition to promoting broader debates about the participation of trans women in women's competitions.
Impact: These discussions were instrumental in promoting gender equality and combating prejudice, providing a more inclusive and respectful environment for all participants.

The positive impact of these workshops can already be clearly felt among the participants, both in terms of physical development and in strengthening their cultural and social identity. The project created a safe and transformative space for young people to explore their potential and recognize the value of their history and differences.
