In-person learning starts again!

Hello dear donors,

We would like to share some wonderful news with you. First of all, since last month, the Indonesian government has relaxed the Covid protocols and all schools, and informal education institutions like ours, are gradually opening their doors. This means that those who are able to facilitate and implement the health protocols correctly, are given permission to run in-person classes.

Secondly, we are thrilled to see that the young people in Cipanas, West Java, are even more motivated to acquire skills so that they have a better chance at finding jobs or starting a venture of their own. Seats for the Sewing classes at YUM’s Vocational Training Center (VTC) quickly filled up and over 40 students have enrolled this term! Since October, we have started five classes consisting of three beginner’s classes and two advanced classes. If everything goes accordingly, all students (including those enrolled in the English and Computer classes) will finish their courses and be granted a certificate by the end of December.

One of the main causes of youth unemployment is a lack of skills. With your help, our Vocational Training Centre can continue providing work-readiness skills to vulnerable youth. This year #GivingTuesday takes place on November 30th. As you may know, this will be a global day of giving and it will be a great way to start getting into the ‘giving back holiday’ spirit! If you’d like to participate and join millions of global givers, save the date and donate at this link https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/provide-skills-for-indonesian-unemployed-youth/

Thank you again for your amazing contribution!
