By Ellen Daniels-Howell | Project Leader
In March, 2010, we received a letter of appreciation from Lorite, a Class 7 student at Bar Anding'o Primary School. Lorite thanked all of the people supporting her education by providing the daily school lunch. She wrote, "I really appreciate the project because of its benefits to us. If you come to our school, you'll realize that there is a gereat change since it was introduced."
Now, six years later, we are thrilled to tell you that Lorite is off to university with a government scholarship for her tuition! Lorite is an excellent student, but without your support for the school lunch program she never would have been able to fulfill her dreams for higher education. This fall, Lorite will begin her studies in medical laboratory sciences. We are confident that in time she will have employment to support herself and her family, and will have everything she needs to be a full participant in her community.
Poignantly, Lorite closed her 2010 letter with the following words: "We are yours, and you are ours. So if you can please, don't stop helping us. If you stop, we will nowhere to be seen."
We thank you for all the ways you have "seen" Lorite and other students like her. Your donations have made a tremendous difference for them personally and for their communities.
