We are grateful to share encouraging updates from The Peace Education Center as we begin a new school year. In January, TPEC welcomed a fresh cohort of students, with nearly 60% of the children being new arrivals. This reflects both the ongoing displacement facing refugee families and the growing trust in TPEC as a place of safety, stability, and care.
Currently, approximately 80% of TPEC students reside in our boarding program. These children come from a wide range of difficult circumstances—many have parents working on distant farms, some are newly arrived from Myanmar, and others come from situations where families are temporarily unable to provide consistent care. For these students, TPEC is far more than a school—it is a safe home and a place of belonging.
In many cases, TPEC also serves as a transitional landing point for children who have just arrived in the city. During what is often a confusing and vulnerable time, the center provides a secure, nurturing environment where children can begin learning, build relationships, and gain stability while their families determine next steps. This role continues to be one of the most critical aspects of TPEC’s impact.
The school is currently supported by a dedicated team of refugee teachers and international volunteers, who work to provide both academic instruction and holistic care.
Beyond the classroom, TPEC remains committed to creating joyful and enriching experiences. Recently, students were able to enjoy a trip to the movies—an exciting and memorable outing for many. In addition, every Saturday, volunteers from Kingdom Refugee Care (KRC) bring the children to a local park, where they play sports, build friendships, and simply enjoy being kids. These moments of play are vital, offering healing, normalcy, and joy in the midst of otherwise difficult life circumstances.
As we look ahead, our focus remains on strengthening both the academic and residential aspects of the program, ensuring that each child at TPEC is not only educated but also known, loved, and given the opportunity to flourish. We are deeply thankful for your continued support, which makes this work possible and sustains a place where hope is restored daily.
