Loving hide and seek game!
Loving hide and seek game!

The reach of our task has overcome every border. The benefits we give to children’s lives with our prosthetic legs have been heard in so many countries, for instance in Ecuador. Amy, a fourth year old gorgeous girl, came with her grandparents from this neighbor country to obtain her prosthesis. This little ginger girl stole our hearts with her energy and happiness that she gives even though she had a missing part of her body, her leg, because of a congenital malformation in her mother´s pregnancy.

Nevertheless, Amy can keep running to achieve her dreams with the help of a prosthesis given for free from Mahavir Kmina. But this was only possible with the help of YOU, dear donor. With your thoughtful donation we had the chance to give Amy her prosthetic leg.

Thanks to the team we create with you and Amy´s desire, she plays hide and seek without limping, because Amy is a such an energetic girl, that the only difficulty we had was to keep her still and seated in one spot to put her prosthesis on.  She really wants to run and conquer the world! She probably will with this new chance.

Amy and her family are back to their country and can´t wait to see Amy begin Kindergarten and start building her dreams. We feel so happy that we can contribute with children´s smiles.

With all of our gratitude we want to THANK YOU for believing in us and in little princesses like Amy. If you want to give more happiness to children in the world, please consider becoming a regular donor and help us to make it possible.

With great gratitude,

Mahavir Kmina Foundation

During his last visit, Matias never stoped smiling
During his last visit, Matias never stoped smiling

Children should have a happy beginning in this world, but some of them had to go through difficult situations that almost all of us will never live. Matias, who is a sweet four years old boy from Copacabana (a small town near to Medellin, Colombia), suffered a congenital malformation when he still was in his mother’s belly. Because of that, he was not able to walk by his own.

However, he is walking now with the help of a prosthesis given free of charge by Mahavir Kmina. But we only did 25% of the work; YOU, dear donor, made this possible with your sincere charity, contributing with another 25%. Matias did the other half of the work by walking, jumping and running with his new prosthetic leg, and he does it in an amazing way!

That’s right! Matias is a very, very, VERY energetic kid. With only two years living on Earth, the first time he came he was very shy. But we saw him again a few days ago and this little kid was no longer afraid. He was smiling all the time… and running, running a lot. Seriously, trying to keep him quiet was one of the hardest things we have ever done.

We are so happy to see this amazing evolution in Matias, he is living a happy and healthy life together with his loving family, which is giving him all the support he needs to have a good starting in this world. In the present days, he is enjoying the kindergarten and he will be initiated in school next year.

Matias's story changed for good because of big hearts like yours, for that we really want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH! You are the game shifter for this kid and his family, with your support he has now an opportunity to live like the special boy he is. If you want to give more happiness to children in this world, please consider becoming a regular donor and help us to make it possible.

With great gratitude,

Mahavir Kmina Foundation

Thanks to your donations so far, we have given to kids in Colombia the chance to walk, learn and be happy.

One of this kids, is Matías, a beautiful 6 years old boy that lost his leg due to a poor executed surgery. After this tragedy he had to quit school for a while, and stay at home recovering. Then, in 2010 he received his first prosthesis from Mahavir Kmina, with which he learned to walk again, left his crutches behind and started living like any other kid.

Thanks to your generous donations, he came back to school, saw his friends again and started playing soccer, his favorite sport. We are so happy to know that he is living a healthy and happy life.

This month, he came back for another prosthetic leg, due Matías is still a kid and that means he is still growing, he will need to come frequently to change it.

He came with a big smile and looking happy, and so his family, but the smile he got when he left Mahavir Kmina was even bigger. Now he is getting ready to become in the soccer player he wants to be. He and his family couldn´t be happier and more grateful with you, generous donor.

Matías is one of the many children that need our help, one of the many disabled children in Colombia. that still have a chance in life to be educated, happy and independent if we continue to work together towards donating prosthesis to them.

Thank you for being our partner in changing this world, we are proud of our work and prouder of having your trust.

If this stories touch you, I want to tell you that we are looking an special help for Ever, a kid who lives in one of the poorest territories in Colombia. He never developed one of his leg, so we made a microproject for him here in Globalgiving and I bring the link to it in this report.

With eternal gratitude,

Juan Jose, when he was only 3 years old.
Juan Jose, when he was only 3 years old.

Mahavir Kmina is a young corporation, but during the past eight years, we were working hard to change lifes, to give new opportunities to those who are invisible, to those who are rejected, to those who think about themselves as nuisance, because that's what happens when a kid looks different. We don't think about them in that way, we think they are special and beautiful, and they need our help, your help.

Together, the Corporation and their amazing and incredibly generous donors, are making a difference in the life of hundreds of children who, for any reason, are living without one or both legs. This time, we want to share with you the special story of Juan José and Keyner, two wonderful kids who met each other when they came to Mahavir Kmina's facility for their free of charge prosthesis.

Juan José and Keyner came from Barranquilla, a coastal city not far from the Atlantic Ocean; however, they never met each other before they came to us. Both of them lost their right leg, but the memories behind their condition is completely different. Juan José was borned with a congenital deformity in his right leg, it was smaller than the other one, impeding him to walk without the help of crutches or a wheelchair. "I'm so happy because Mahavir Kmina always helps me", he says with a beautiful smile in his face. We surely do, last month was the fourth time that Juan Jose came to us, he's comming since our early beggining, when he was only 3 years old.

Keyner, meanwhile, lost his leg when he was just a little baby. His parents never cared about his needs, is his grandmother who always took care of him. "I was cooking the dinner when Keyner crawled out of home directly to the street, his parents only realized about that when it was too late", says the grandma. Sadly, a trailer passed over him, shattering his entire leg and causing severe brain damage. Eight years have passed since the accidente, but Keyner is fine now, he is a lovely and smiling kid who came to us for help. In the present days, he's learning to walk, to run, to jump and to dance with two legs, "I wanna be a soccer player as James", he says with a twinkle in his eyes.

They both came the same morning to our falicity and, after they got their prosthesis, they made their first steps with them together. Juan José is walking with Mahavir Kmina's prosthetic legs since ever, so using the new one was not a problem for him. Keyner, in the other hand, never knew what is to walk with two legs before, so he needed time and practice to learn, but thanks to his new friend, who encourage him to keep trying, he finally walked for the fist time.

This story was possible thanks to you, generous donor. The money you invested in our project helped  to bring them both a new opportunity and a new friendship; for that, we are eternally grateful. Thank you for your donation, thank you for believing in our case, we hope to keep getting help from people like you around the world so we, all together, can change more and more lifes. In the present days, more than 700.000 human beings are living in Colombia without one or both legs, the prosthetic legs in the market are just too expensive for many of them, so they need our help. If you are interested in keep helping this kind of kids, we want to remind you that the next june 15 is the GlobalGiving Bonus Day, the donations made during that day will be increased with the support of GlobalGiving, so the help you'll bring will be higher and will impact more lifes.

We wish you a beautiful day and a prosperous life.

With gratitude,

Mahavir Kmina team.

Looking beautiful and full of hope!
Looking beautiful and full of hope!

Thanks to your donations so far, we have given to kids in Colombia the chance to walk, learn and be happy.

One of this kids, is Sara, a beautiful 16 years old girl that had a traffic accident when a taxi ran over her when she was only 7 years old. After this tragedy she had to quit school for a while, and stay at home recovering from the accident. Then, in 2013 she received her first prosthesis from Mahavir Kmina, with which she learned to walk again, left her crutches and started living normally again.

She came back to school, got back her friends and started to feel more like a teenager, enjoying this stage of her life.

Now, after three years of having her first prosthesis, she came back to Mahavir Kmina because she has grown up so much that her old prosthesis didn´t fit anymore and needed to be replaced.

She came looking beautiful and happy, but when she left she had a big smile on her face and was amazed by having the opportunity to continue living. Now she is getting ready to go to college and knows that if she didn´t have her prosthesis it would be really difficult to do so. And for that, she couldn´t be happier and more grateful with you, the donors.

Sara is one of the many children that need our help, one of the many disabled children in Colombia. that still have a chance in life to be educated, happy and independent if we continue to work together towards donating prosthesis to them.

Thank you for being our partner in changing world, we are proud of our work and prouder of having your trust.

Remember the upcoming bonus day on march 16th in which your donations will be matched, hurry and donate early in the morning so you don´t miss the opportunity!!
