With the support of our GlobalGiving donors, we are happy to announce that we have reached our funding goal for this project!
Since beginning our campaign to bring music education to the children of Mali, we have been able to provide hundreds of children with music, dance, and language classes. Our students even held a performance for the First Lady of Mali! We were also able to support the installation of a well and cistern to provide the village with a centralized source of water - previously, villagers and midwives at the local maternity ward had to walk deep into the village to get clean water. Finally, the staff at Ecole de Musique de Kirina have begun the construction of a garden at the school, and will be planting their first crops soon. This will keep many students from going to the risky gold mining sites to get money for food, and will ensure that they're able to attend their music classes regularly.
Thank you to everyone who supported this project - we couldn't have done it without you. For future updates, videos, and pictures from Ecole de Musique de Kirina, please 'Like' their Facebook page here.
We still need your help! Please check out our new GlobalGiving campaign in support of our Musica school in Nepal here!
