So many events and engagements to write about but the spotlight for this quarter is on our Instagram page. Over the years we have explored SMS, Calls, e-mail, Facebook and now Instagram to educate young people and help them live a fulfilled life.
Providing information through mobile technology and social media platform is now the new normal. During the pandemic, many young people engaged through social media to receive information and to get entertained. Leveraging on social media is a critical way to keep young people informed and engaged. We have built our tech ecosystem such that young people can get the information that they need to make healthy choices at their own convenience. Although, we have been utilizing Instagram and part of our tech ecosystem we engaged more this time.
As of January 2021, there were about 6.47% Nigerians on Instagram according to StatCounter and this number has gradually increased over the years as the app becomes more popular. The majority of its users are between the ages of 18-34 years and a few about 2% according to Napoleon stat are between the ages of 13-17. This statistics explains why Instagram is a tool to engage with young people.
Taking advantage of this platform, our Instagram page @eva_mapps have been utilized to provide young people with information on HIV and AIDS, reproductive health, body image and pubertal changes and also for referrals Including prevention messages on Coronavirus disease. We also engage young people through quizzes and Instagram Live Shows.
Moreso, the Instagram page is linked to our Facebook Page at MyQuestion and MyAnswer Service. This gives the user more options to engage and receive information to make healthy choices.
The page has received over 1170 followers who are making healthy choices throughout daily engagements.
Donations and funds from you help us keep the page active, create fun activities for young people and more importantly link and update all our social media and mobile platforms to create a solid sexual and reproductive health tech Ecosystem where no adolescent and young person is left behind.
