Health and Work: A Balance that Transforms Lives

By Edwin Ajuchan | Social Programs Director

improvement of quality of life through health care
improvement of quality of life through health care

We want to share a story that reflects the true impact of our Health Program on the lives of our artisans in Cojolya. In a community where the manual labor most people do every day requires great physical effort and dedication, health is a fundamental pillar for our artisans to be able to continue weaving their beautiful creations and, at the same time, take care of themselves and their families.

Two of our artisans, who are also sisters, are a clear example of how health care can transform lives. Prior to the support of our program, these women worked tirelessly, but did not always have the means to care for their health and well-being. Weaving, a work they love dearly, can be exhausting, and without access to medical services, they had to constantly worry about getting sick or hurt.

Today, thanks to the health card we have provided, these sisters can work with a lot more peace of mind. Knowing that they have access to medical care when they need it has given them the ability to focus on what they truly love: weaving. Their physical health has improved, and that is reflected in their energy, their spirit and the quality of their work. They can now enjoy the process of weaving, knowing that their health is looked after.

We have seen how these artisans have regained not only their physical strength, but also their enthusiasm for their work. With stable and secure health care, they have found new motivation to keep going, to hone their skills and to enjoy each day of their work.

It's not just their physical well-being that has improved; their emotional well-being has blossomed as well. Being able to laugh and enjoy time together, whether working or resting, is a sign of the balance they have regained. This is the kind of impact that fills us at Cojolya with pride and reminds us of the importance of giving our artisans the tools they need to thrive, not only in their work, but in their daily lives.

To all our donors, we are deeply grateful for making this program possible. Your support allows us to continue supporting our artisans, giving them the opportunity to work with the peace of mind they deserve and to enjoy a more fulfilled life. Thanks to you, these women can continue to weave with all their heart, knowing that their health is in good hands.
