Thanks to your generous support, Cojolya's health program continues to improve the lives of our artisans and their families. We are pleased to share with you the testimonials of Martha, Rosario and Carmen, who have experienced firsthand the positive impact of this program.
Martha, a dedicated Cojolya warper, shares how her entire family once came down with a fever. Terrified of the possibility of serious illness, they remembered that they had the health card provided by the program. Thanks to this card, Martha was able to quickly go to the pharmacy and obtain the necessary medicines to cure her family. She stresses the importance of being healthy in order to be able to work and mentions that she regularly needs serums, injections and vitamins for herself and her children. She also mentions that she has felt calm when she gets sick, although the weaving in backstrap loom tires when sitting for a long time and causes back pain, the warping technique is no exception, she tells us how the warping tires the hands, the feet when sitting for a long time, and even the eyesight, since there are weavings that tire the hands and feet when sitting for a long time, and even the sight since there are very delicate and meticulous weavings that take time and it is necessary to pay attention to these details in each thread strand, and the health card has facilitated the access to medicines to contribute to her health and to have strength thanks to the purchase of vitamins.
"Thanks to everyone who gives us this opportunity to have medical assistance, it has changed our lives and we can continue to work and create more products at Cojolya," Martha says.
Rosario, a veteran backstrap loom weaver, tells us how the health program has eased the financial burden on her household. Before, health was often put on the back burner because of the need to prioritize food and housing issues. Now, she feels calmer and more grateful, as she can access check-ups and medications with ease. She points out that she suffers pain in her legs and arms due to her loom weaving and a fall she had, but thanks to the health card, she can get injections and vitamins that help her recover and continue working with caution.
Carmen, also a backstrap loom weaver, expresses her deep gratitude to the donors for their support. For Carmen, the health card not only facilitates access to medicines when she gets sick, but also ensures that she can continue to produce high quality weavings. She stresses the importance of being healthy to do a job well done and is grateful for the opportunity to showcase her art with dedication and care.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this positive change and for maintaining this incredible traditional weaving legacy by supporting the program, we invite you to watch the interviews with the artisans telling their experience about the program in the following link: Click Here.
