Through the hard work that artisans do every day, it is important to recognize the significance of the health and well-being of each one of them.
Our health program has begun this year with more strength and passion to contribute to the health of artisans. The strategy of the health cards has been very functional and effective for the supply of medicines and medical care in a personal way for each of the artisans. Each year, we engage in close collaboration with local community providers in order to contribute to the local economy of our town, Santiago Atitlán.
The delivery of these cards each year represents a significant, exciting and important moment to all the artisans, their well-being with their family and performance in all the activities they perform in their daily lives.
Another important note that motivates all of us, is that this year, more artisans were integrated into the health program which means that the program will generate a more positive impact in the life of the artisans, weavers, embroiderers, and/or garment workers, who do hard work each day. Some incredible messages and thanks from the artisans:
Magdalena(Urdidora, Weaver): “The health program has made a change in my life. A long time ago, before the health program started, I spent a lot of money on medicine for back and nerve pain, at the time, I did not know what to do because I did not have enough money for medical consultations and medicine. The health program came to me at the moment I needed it most, it motivated and helped me to continue to take care of my health. I thank all the donors that made everything possible that this program continues and supports us this year, 2023, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.”
Marcela (Weaver): “Since last year, access to healthcare has helped me tremendously. My health problems are constant, and this program has been my best ally in moments that I need it most. There is not enough gratitude for each donor for contributing to the wellbeing of all artisans.”
María (Weaver): “Access to good health conditions is a great casualty when you do not have sufficient economic resources for medical care or purchase medications. Thank you to the health program that allowed us to have access to optimal conditions of medical care and supply of medicines so that today we can work and seek the wellbeing of our families.”
Mercedes (Weaver): “Before, it was difficult for us to obtain medicines and medical supplies that we needed due to the lack of economic resources. When someone in my family was sick, we were in a difficult situation. I am happy and thankful to be a part of Cojolya because it is an organization that thinks of us weavers. Thank you to the donors that contributed to a better quality of life for us through this health program.”
Empowerment also means healthcare!
