In Guatemala, one in every two children suffers from chronic malnutrition. The country has the sixth-highest rate of chronic child malnutrition in the world, affecting 47% of children. Tragically, 46.7% of children under five experience stunting. Growing up in poverty creates a toxic stress response that severely impacts brain development, leading to increased anxiety, impaired memory, and poor mood control.
In the communities we serve, many families struggle to provide their children with adequate nutrition due to economic hardships. This lack of proper nutrition severely impacts children's ability to concentrate, learn, and grow healthily. At Ninos de Guatemala, we recognize that proper nutrition is essential for student performance. Many of our students arrive at school on empty stomachs, hindering their ability to learn and stay focused.
At Ninos de Guatemala, we recognize that proper nutrition is essential for student performance. Many of our students arrive at school on empty stomachs, hindering their ability to learn and stay focused. We aim to provide a nutritious meal every morning to prepare our students for the day ahead. This initiative is crucial for our 540 underprivileged students attending our three schools 11 months out of the By creating this project we would like to be able to invest $1.50 per student per day.
The long-term impact of the NDG Nutrition Program is multifaceted, fostering improved health, educational success, community resilience, and economic development. By addressing the root causes of malnutrition and promoting holistic development, the program sets the foundation for a healthier, more prosperous future for the children and communities of Guatemala.
