GlobalGiving Fund has brought a great change in the life of 12 children at Child Welfare Home (CHW) Khandbari. The kids have got enough food to eat three times a day. The children seem happy to eat their full, wear new school dress, have snack in the Tiffin break. Their old sweaters have also been have replaced into new ones. They have got a emergency light to use at night when there is no electricity.
This year in last October the kids celebrated Dashain, their greatest festival, at the orphanage happily. During the auspicious occasion they wore new dress, ate beaten rice with meat and bananas, danced in a group by playing their tape recorder. They received Tika (red marks on their forehead) and blessings from us. They had not got an opportunity to celebrate Dashan in such a happy way in life before.
Now the cook mother does not have to worry to cook and feed them. She does not have to go the forest to collect and bring fire wood. She can cook with gas stove in a short time. Thire toilet was also repaired last month for their convenient.
A hen has recently hatched 10 chickens. Another hen is going to hatch 9 chickens soon. The two goats are growing day by day. The cook mother works in the vegetable garden and grows green vegetables for the kids.
Now a days the kids need 150 kg rice (Rs.9000),fruits and vegetables (Rs. 4000) one cylinder Gas (Rs.2000), water and Electricity charge (Rs.1000) per month. We have been managing this expenditure from fund received from Global Giving organization.
Still we have to manage other expenditure like cook mother's monthly pay scale (Rs.4000) House Rent (Rs. 720000) children school stationery and other miscellaneous expenditure.
We hope to keep building on these past successes in the year to come. As you make your new year's plan we hope you will keep us in mind and think ways about how to get more involved in our project whether you choose to volunteer, donate online to our project or spread the word about the work that we do.
