Dear AMOR Afghan Health Clinic supporter,
Winter is fast approaching Kabul which sits at 6,000 feet in a valley surrounded by picturesque mountains that are covered in snow from November thru April. School is recessed during these months because the roads are extrealy muddy and the air bitterly cold.
The two female physicians that are now operating the AAHC clinic have been well received by the students, their teachers, and the general community surrounding the school. Using basic health education classes as a way to increase awareness about the services available at the clinic, the phyicians have gone out into the community to introduce themselves and AMOR. In August 650 men and women attended the classes bringing the total since March to 2502.
The number of patients seeking medical services at the clinic continues to rise each month as well. Exams, treatment, and medication are available for internal medicine, maternity, and pediatric patients. Additionally vaccinations are available for every age group. August was the clinics busiest month with a total of 616 patients receiving treatment, 259 of which were pediatric.
It is a pleasure to write you these encouraging updates on the progress of the clinic. AMOR and the AAHC staff will continue to reach into the community and encourage the use of the services available. This is your money hard at work providing healthcare, vaccines, and education for those who otherwise would have none of these things available to them.
Thank you for your generosity and continued support!
