By Sandy Watson | Field Coordinator, Abba's Children's Center
We have received no donations, therefore no progress has been made. We continue to dream about a vocational school for the citizens of Cienfuegos. We hope to now build a third floor on the Children's Center to house the vocational school. We have purchased desks and books from tithes, but no progress has been made toward purchasing building materials, drafting a blue print, or starting construction. The need continues to be great. Citizens are routinely digging through the landfill adjacent to the Children's Center to scavenge for any items that can be sold. The living conditions are horrific. There is no plumbing or running water in their homes, no bathing facilities, and no furniture. There is no air conditioning and only a few have fans. Access to electricity can only happen if one can afford it. A polluted stream serves as drinking and bathing water. Residents cannot read or write and have no marketable skills.
