Report for Vocational School
By Sandy Watson | Field Coordinator, Abba's Children's Center
We are happy to report that we received a $2000 donation to go towards building the vocational school. The funds are waiting to be added to before we can do much with it but we are hopeful that God will provide and send more financial help for this project. The Children's Center is doing well and we have added physical education to our curriculum with the construction of a new playground. Please consider donating toward the vocational school project so that construction can begin. The vocational school will be housed on a third floor, to be added to the Center. We anticipate that it will break the cycle of poverty off the entire village.

Report for Vocational School
By Sandy Watson | Field Coordinator, Abba's Children's Center
Still no news to report on this project. No donations mean it is on hold. The community is still in dire need of a vocational education program since most citizens are illiterate and resort to drug trades or prostitution to support themselves and their families. The children attending Abba's House Children's Center only attend until the age of 16. After that, there are no other options for these children in Cien Fuegos to further their educations. We envision a vocational program wherein Abba's House Children's Center children transition into at age 16 and where adults can start a vocation. The anticipated location will be on the third (to be built) floor of the Center located in Cien Fuegos, Dominican Republic. Students will receive FREE training in mechanics, medical assisting, plumbing, construction, cosmetology, and more so the citizens of Cienfuegos can become self-sufficient and gainfully employed.

Report for Vocational School
By Sandy Watson | Field Coordinator, Abba's House Children's Center
Although we have not yet received acceptal funding amounts to realize the goal of building a vocational school in Cienfuegos, we continue to pray that the funds will come. We have more involvement of the community than at any other time in the history of the Children's Center. We are also working on a service learning project involving US college students from Louisiana traveling to Cienfuegos in 2023 during spring break where they will be divided into teams working in several different areas related to their majors. From this initiative, we hope to gain more individuals interested in working long-term with the Center, and helping to put in place a vocational curriculum.
The children are getting a playground thanks to a donation. The playground will be the first in Cienfuegos and will consits of swings, slides, climbing apparatuses, and smaller equipment such as balls, gloves, jumpropes, etc.
