Zena's Happy Ending

Zena
A few months ago, in our June project report, we told you about Zena. Today, we'd like to share with you Zena's happy ending. Please read below what Ashleigh, Zena's mom, has to say.
Zena was pulled from animal control by EMAR in 2011. She was young and pregnant. EMAR gave her a safe place to have her babies- they were vaccinated, spay/neutered, and adopted- as was Zena.
At some point Zena got away from her new home and was lost for a year. With help from the community EMAR eventually found Zena but it took 3 years of persistence (and lots of treats!) to catch her and bring her back. After seeing the vet we found out she had heart worms, so she was treated for that. She spent 3 months being a perfect angel in her kennel so I (Ashleigh- a volunteer) took her home to foster thinking she could just visit and get a little extra attention for a few weeks.
Boy was I wrong! She adopted me the day she came to my house. She showed me unconditional love immediately that I had never gotten from an animal. She is a very loved and special member of our family now and we couldn't imagine a day without her.
We are thankful to EMAR for not giving up on Zena! They could have easily left her out on her own, but they looked until they found her. And then they coaxed her for years before they caught her. Then they spent hundreds of dollars on heartworm treatment so that she could lead a long happy life once she found her forever family.
EMAR is so appreciate of our adopters, volunteers, and donors like you. During this giving season, please keep in mind how your donations can help animals in need, such as Zena. Remember to check us out on Facebook to see daily updates and adoptable animals!
