Greetings from the team at East Mississippi Animal Rescue! As usual, things have been busy here at our facility. It seems as though there will always be an animal in need and another right behind it, waiting to take its place in our care.
One of the most common ways your donations help to support us is by covering the cost of medications. From minor illnesses and injuries to serious surgeries, medications are one of the more frequent expenses we encounter.
Recently, we've had several cases of Parvovirus affect young puppies in our care. Situations such as these take a toll on a rescue and its volunteers- both emotionally and financially. Although it depends on the severity of the case and the length of stay at the veterinary office, treating cases of Parvovirus can, on average, cost near $300.
Sometimes, we receive the devastating news that a dog or puppy didn't make it. It's difficult to hear that we've lost an animal when we tried so hard to save it. Recently we had to say our goodbyes to Moon Beam and Bliss, both of whom fought a hard fight, but just weren't able to overcome the virus. Without your support, they would have never had a chance. Fortunately, not all stories have an unhappy ending and we are able to help many more animals than we sadly lose.
Though we sometimes experience heartbreak and grief, your belief and faith in our mission help us push on and continue to work for the betterment of animals in need. Thank you for your unwavering support. We appreciate all that you do to further our efforts.
