IDRF supports free residential care for destitute children in a friendly and caring environment which makes them feel at home. The orphanage known as 'Brindavan' in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, provides care for 12 abandoned and orphan children who are vulnerable to exploitation by criminals and anti-social elements. The objective of this program is to provide good schooling & extra-curricular activities to these children so as to help them stand on their own feet as adults and become good citizens.
IDRF supports the free stay home 'Brindavan' for abandoned & orphaned children in a safe and caring environment which makes them feel at home. These destitute children are at risk to resort to begging on streets , becoming victims of human trafficking, or getting involved in petty crimes due to extreme poverty and lack of guidance. IDRF is a non-profit mainly volunteer-based organization and depends on sponsorship, donations and assistance to provide shelter, food and education to orphans.
IDRF provides safe home & education to 12 destitute children by providing a friendly learning environment & equipping them with moral values. This helps the young orphans become economically self-reliant adults. Besides funding the education of these orphans, IDRF also raises funds to provide free food, shelter, clothing, sporting activities, and training in Taekwondo, music and drawing for these children. This holistic development will prepare each one of them to face all challenges in life.
The ultimate aim of our program is to serve the destitute children by providing them education, medical & nutrition support and empower them with skill development to become self-reliant and confident adults. Since its inception 6 yrs ago, 50 children have benefited from this home. Some children are about to complete high school & will be starting college soon. One boy who was a 7th grade dropout, when he came to this home, is now in his final year diploma of electrical engineering!
