Sowing Hope: Analysis and Results of Early Care for the Benefit of 100 Children in Mexico

By Guadalupe Maldonado Guerrero | General Director

According to the objectives set out in the published project, 500 patients with some high-risk factor, damage or sequelae of cerebral palsy have been treated. Here, various specialists have contributed to rehabilitative treatment with the aim of preventing some type of disability, and if present, improving their quality of life through short, medium and long-term intervention.

The main results to highlight are:

46% of beneficiaries who improve their motor development
62% improved their linguistic, cognitive, social and educational abilities
55% of beneficiaries reduced their consequences in cases where they had permanent damage.
65% of patients have reached an optimal level of well-being

These advances presented to the beneficiaries have prompted the institution to continue searching for new avenues of research in the rehabilitation of the beneficiaries, technology and the use of applications can be an important factor in the activities of daily living that can improve their capabilities. and be included in a biopsychosocial approach. The multidisciplinary team has worked to find the best therapeutic techniques in different areas such as: medical, nutritional, psychological, oral, therapeutic specialties, etc.

In early intervention, the beneficiary must be considered as a whole, considering the biopsychosocial aspects of each individual related to their own environment, family, school, culture and social context. The participation of families in the context of early intervention has evolved to become more relevant, because they are main agents in the development of the child. Thanks to the intervention in the context where the child participates, the enrichment of families is achieved by providing them with resources to obtain satisfactory decisions that improve their quality of life.

Parents appreciate having a functional program that can cover different medical and/or therapeutic areas since it significantly enriches the rehabilitation treatment in patients who have already presented some type of disability or prevents it through early intervention of any motor or cognitive problem that occurs. can affect the health, life and social integration of the patient.
