Preliminary Assessment and Strategic Partnerships Update

By PETER DUODU | Project Leader

Over the past months, our team at IT For Youth Ghana Foundation has been laying the critical groundwork to ensure the successful delivery of digital literacy and entrepreneurship training for 500 female startup founders across Ghana. While we are still in the early fundraising phase and have not yet received donations through GlobalGiving, significant progress has already been made to position this project for strong impact once implementation begins.

We conducted a needs assessment engaging young women entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, including informal traders, early-stage tech founders, and home-based business owners. These engagements confirmed a clear demand for practical digital skills, particularly in digital financial management, social media marketing, online customer engagement, and access to digital marketplaces. Many participants expressed that limited digital capacity, rather than lack of ideas, is the main barrier preventing their businesses from growing.

In parallel, we have established institutional and community partnerships that will support implementation. These partnerships include local training hubs, women-led business networks, and mentors with experience in technology and entrepreneurship. Together, they will help us deliver hands-on training, mentorship, and follow-up support to ensure participants can immediately apply what they learn to their businesses.

This preparatory phase is essential to delivering a high-quality, scalable program. By investing time in planning, partnerships, and evidence-based design, we are ensuring that donor contributions will translate directly into meaningful outcomes, stronger women-led businesses, increased income opportunities, and job creation within local communities. As we move into the next phase, donor support will enable us to transition from preparation to direct training and impact.
