Thank you to all that know how valuable a backpack is to a child that has lost much if not all of their pocessions. I don't know if any of you have had a family loss, for those of you who can relate, remember how everything centered around the adults and what was needed for the whole family, like the essential, food, water, shelter, money, clothes, etc. Some how the minor needs of a child are lost in the big picture which is understandable in the overall picture, but not necessarily to a child, and most children do not really need much, just a little something that is just for them, something to show they are not forgotten about.
As you can see we have not raised much, fortunately we have had a lot of in kind donations to go with the backpacks that we have purchased with the donations. We have been able to dispense some of those backpacks to one family that indeed lost everything, as they were rescued off the roof of their house. This particular family has three children and there homes was part of the most recent devastation caused by the flooding in Texas. The children were so grateful, each backpack contained paper, pencils, folders, book, small stuffed animal, a couple small toys, cars for the boys and doll for the girl. They wanted us to relay their thanks to all. Sorry we don't have any pictures, we did not want them to think a picture to publicize was more important than them.
Thank you again for supporting this project for children faced with disasster. and please tell others about this project it needs the help of people like you. We have given out 2175 backpacks to date.
