IDP Families in Nigeria Lack Safe Cooking Support

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We sincerely thank you for your support toward the Provide 500 Charcoal Stoves to IDPs in Nigeria project. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated. However, the donations received so far are not enough to begin the project yet, and more support is still needed.

Many displaced families living in IDP camps across Area 1, Kuchigoro, Masaka, Borno, and Benue continue to struggle with unsafe cooking conditions due to lack of electricity, expensive fuel costs, and reduced humanitarian support. Many women and children still rely on open fires, exposing them to dangerous smoke, burns, and respiratory illnesses.

Without safer cooking alternatives, vulnerable families remain at risk of poor health, food insecurity, and additional financial hardship caused by rising fuel costs.

This project is designed to provide 500 efficient charcoal stoves that burn cleaner, reduce smoke exposure, lower charcoal use, and make cooking safer for displaced households. The stoves are also designed to work without electricity or kerosene, making them practical for difficult camp conditions.

With the right support, more displaced families can prepare meals more safely, reduce health risks linked to smoke inhalation, and ease some of the daily hardship faced within the camps.

We remain grateful for the support received so far and hopeful that additional donations will make it possible to begin this important support project for displaced families soon.

Thank you for your kindness and continued support.

Sincerely,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
