This program provides the birth certificates and state identification documents necessary for the needy to find gainful employment in the Las Vegas area and return to a state of independence.
Unemployment in Las Vegas has become endemic at 15%, while Las Vegas leads the nation in foreclosures. One major stumbling block that people face is a lack of the official identification necessary to obtain gainful employment and return to independence. Without this documentation, application for jobs is not even possible, leading to even greater levels of food insecurity, lack of sufficient housing, and prison recidivism.
LSSN has the infrastructure in place to obtain birth certificates and state identification documents for people in need, along with a history of successfully providing these documents to hundreds of people over the last several years.
Through this program, LSSN will be able to obtain both birth certificates and state identification documents for 1000 needy people in the Las Vegas area.
