Your financial support of our programmatic work will enable us to facilitate courageous conversations to change the public dialogue.
Parents face many challenges in the first few years after their children come out as LGBTQ+. Moms often feel their own confusion and isolation as they navigate the changes in their own lives while their children are finding their own way. There are often many questions that are difficult to find answers to. Mama Dragons provides peer to peer support and resources that address the myriad of challenges they face as they move towards accepting, affirming, advocating for and celebrating their kids
Mama Dragons creates a community of knowledge and support for parents as they navigate when their kids come out. We offer peer-to-peer support and online learning in a safe, nonjudgemental environment. We support moms one-on-one with blankets, personal notes, and Embracelets. We provide access to group therapy at a very affordable rate. We train parents to recognize and prevent suicide at the most personal level within the family structure. We will be training and facilitating advocacy skills.
Mama Dragons is now 10,600+ members strong but we are growing every day. This project will enable Mama Dragons to expand our programs in measurable ways on our online learning platforms, to continue our life-saving suicide prevention training, and to train and facilitate 'courageous conversations' within families, in schools, in communities, and with decision-makers at every level.
