The project is going on, despite the COVID-19 emergency.
Just a small number of cases of COVID-19 was registered in Addis Abeba, fortunately no one involved in our project has been infected.
As a precaution, the government has closed all schools in the country, consequently children cannot study, since distance education is not provided. Children have to stay away from school. Children that benefited from food service at school now can’t receive one meal per day. This is disadvantageous for their families, since they have to provide that meal to their children on their own (unfortunately, sometimes this is not in their possibilities). Our local partner IFSO is going on taking care of children in family homes. On the other hand, we aren’t able to see children that had already come back to their families (because of COVID-19).
Before the emergency took place, psychologists from an Italian university, with whom IFSO collaborates (thanks to our other partner "Il Sole” ngo), had a talk with IFSO’s director and with psychologists from Addis Abeba University. The objective was to carry on collaborating on protocols concerning child abuses.
