Anna first called us in August. She had been in Ecuador for two years working for an NGO. Anna and her Border Collie, Trinity, were experiencing abuse by her boyfriend in Ecuador. It was mostly verbal abuse, but then he pushed Anna against a wall and threatened to hit her. When Trinity tried to protect Anna her boyfriend kicked Trinity and then lock her in a room without food and water. That was the final straw for Anna.
Anna had the funds to be able to come home to the USA but not the vet certificate and costs to bring Trinity home. Thanks to donations like yours, Trinity and Anna are home safe and sound and living with Anna's parents.
Here is part of an email from Anna: "You ladies are amazing! I didn't know how I was going to get out of Ecuador with Trinity. You made it possible! I can thank you enough!"
We want to thank you for helping us help victims like Anna & Trinity! The AODVC Team
Thanks to donations like yours Bella was able to come home with her human mom Amber! We helped Amber and Bella escape Belize last month. Amber had been teaching English in Belize for two years and had adopted Bella just a few months after she arrived. She met a man, an American, in December of last year. Amber told us they had a whirlwind romance and everything was great for the first six months, then he became moody and started criticizing her.
Last month, he came home drunk and hit her. That is when Amber called us for help. We helped Amber come up with a safety plan and helped her get everything in order so she could leave and come back to the USA with Bella.
Amber is safely living at her mom and dad's house with Bella now. We can't thank you enough for helping Amber and Bella!

When Shannon called us from Costa Rica she was desperate. Her husband had become more and more violent and had thretened to kill Aticus, her Yorkshire Terrier.
Shannon's husband was controlling and did not allow her to go out of the house. We devised a plan. She told her husband Aticus was sick and needed to go to the vet. Her husband took Shannon to the vet with Aticus and he waited in the car. With the assistance of the vet, we arranged to get Aticus his certificate of health and also a crate for Shannon to get Aticus on the plane.
Shannon snuck out the back door of the veterinary's office with Aticus and got into the taxi we arranged for her, heading straight to the airport, then back home to Ohio.
Aticus is doing great. A little shaken up from the escape but happy and healty because of donors like you!
Thank you for helping Shannon & Aticus! The AODVC Team
Over 24 pets are safe with their families back in the USA after escaping domestic violence in a foreign country. Donations like yours is what made 2015 a record year for rescuing pets from abuse.
Here are a few pets you helped:
Kira - a 2 year old Maltese mix that escaped abuse in Brazil with their family and came back home to the USA.
Missy - the beloved 10 year old pet cat of Patricia and her two children who escaped France and is now safe and sound at home.
Apollo - a 5 year old Golden Retriever that Stephanie rescued in India that an expat family abandoned, and was able to bring home when she escaped.
Each surivivor of violence has been deeply impacted by your kindness and generosity. Being able to bring their precious pets home at a time of extreme stress and difficulties is a wonderful gift.
Thank you so much for your support! The AODVC Team
Claudia called us from Mexico. She had all she needed to escape her very abusive husband and get back home to Nevada where her parents live except for one thing. She didn't have the money to get the health certificae from Riley's vet, a kennel or the airfare to bring her dog Riley back home with her.
Claudia was afraid to leave Riley behind. She was sure her abusive husband would torture or kill Riley.
Because of donations like yours, Riley was able to come home with Claudia, and, we were able to provide food for Riley for two months while Claudia looks for a job.
Claudia and Riley are happy and safe, beginning a new life, away from violence and abuse.
Thank you for caring about Claudia and Riley! The AODVC Team
