Dear Supporters,
Within the last quarter we have been working alongside our partners, Seychelles National Park Authority, to put on and hold at our base the 8th annual Raft Race. The raft race will bring together companies from across the Seychelles where up to 24 teams will race a 1.6 KM course in rafts built out of reusable and recyclable materials. We hope to promote within this a sustainable Seychelles and raise much needed funds for several projects. Last year was brilliant with over 300 people from the nation including national and international news coverage. This year it is looking much bigger and we aim to deliver on it!
Now, we need your help. A donation will go a long way here! We are aiming to place students who are top of their class or show potential in marine education through continuous development. Now with these students it might be that they are the top of their class but are unable to support their own education; it could be that they haven’t got a schedule that allows them to work around. We hope that this program will give them the support needed by working with our local partners in helping deliver such a project.
Once open water trained we will look at developing them further through to their Advance Open Water with an international team similar to the photo below and then onwards through our National Scholars Program.
On the National Scholars program they will gain 3 months of valuable training and development through our program where they will learn how to complete different methods of surveys and study the coral reefs around the Seychelles and help give back to their country.
From our National Scholars Program we have had volunteers joining many different organisations. Some have moved on to protecting the outer islands such as Aldabra, some have moved on to projects on the main land focusing on coral restoration, and others on underwater surveying on islands such as North and Frigate.
As always, here at Cap Ternay, we would just like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to read our report but also take a thought to donating to this cause.
With Gratitude,
Cap Ternay Marine
