Overview
The “Warmth for Every Child” Campaign was launched to support children living with chronic illnesses, cancer, and disabilities across Egypt by providing adaptive clothing specifically designed for their medical and physical needs.
During the first implementation phase, the Egyptian Clothing Bank successfully distributed adaptive clothing sets to 10,000 patient children through partnerships with hospitals, cancer centers, and healthcare institutions in multiple governorates.
The campaign focused on ensuring that vulnerable children receive warm, comfortable, and practical clothing that supports their treatment journey while preserving dignity and improving daily comfort.
Areas Reached
The first phase of distributions covered the following governorates in Egypt:
Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and Fayoum.
Distributions were implemented through hospitals, cancer treatment centers, and specialized medical institutions serving children undergoing treatment and long-term care.
Accomplishments
10,000 Adaptive Clothing Sets Distributed
Each child received a customized adaptive clothing set designed to address medical and comfort needs, including:
- Easy-access openings for medical procedures and treatment access
- Comfortable and sensory-friendly fabrics
- Practical designs suitable for children with limited mobility
- Warm clothing suitable for winter conditions and treatment environments
The adaptive sets were developed to reduce discomfort during treatment and daily activities while improving mobility and emotional well-being.
Impact on Children and Families
The first phase of the campaign created meaningful impact for thousands of vulnerable children and their families.
Improved Comfort During Treatment
Children receiving chemotherapy and other medical treatments experienced greater comfort and warmth during hospital visits and recovery periods.
Reduced Physical Discomfort
Adaptive clothing helped accommodate medical devices, mobility limitations, and sensory sensitivities that ordinary clothing often fails to address.
Emotional and Psychological Support
Receiving clothing tailored to their needs helped children feel cared for, included, and more confident in social and medical settings.
Support for Families
Families facing financial hardship were relieved from the burden of purchasing specialized clothing that is often expensive or unavailable.
Sustainable and Community-Based Production
All clothing sets were produced through the Egyptian Clothing Bank sustainable circular model, which repurposes textiles responsibly while supporting local production workshops.
The initiative also contributed to:
- Reducing textile waste
- Supporting sustainable production practices
- Empowering women involved in local manufacturing and tailoring workshops
Challenges Addressed
Through this phase, the campaign directly addressed:
- Exposure to cold weather during treatment
- Lack of affordable adaptive clothing in local markets
- Clothing-related discomfort for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities
- Limited access to practical and medically suitable garments
