This project will acquire and protect 45 hectares of native Amazon rainforest, including a natural spring that supplies a forest nursery producing up to 450,000 native seedlings each year. By acquiring this land, we will safeguard biodiversity, protect water resources, and strengthen ecosystem restoration efforts. As the area is not yet protected, this is a vital opportunity for preventive conservation with lasting benefits for the Amazon.
The Amazon faces growing pressure from agricultural expansion, particularly in regions already impacted by deforestation. In our project area, forest cover has become fragmented, leaving remaining forests vulnerable when not formally protected. As land-use priorities shift over time, these areas risk future conversion, threatening biodiversity, water resources, and ecosystem stability. This project takes preventive action to secure and protect the forest before degradation occurs.
This project will: - Acquire and permanently protect 45 hectares of native forest; - Conserve a natural spring essential to local water systems; - Support with seeds a forest nursery producing 450,000 seedlings annually; - Contribute to long-term ecological connectivity. By protecting this area, we ensure the continuity of both conservation and restoration processes already in place.
- 45 hectares (111 acres) of forest permanently protected; - Conservation of a key freshwater source; - Support for large-scale ecological restoration; - Potential recovery of hundreds of hectares over time; - Strengthened biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
