In Goma and Karisimbi, the widespread availability of small arms fuels youth violence and armed group recruitment. Many young people face poverty, trauma, and lack of opportunity, making them easy targets. Without peace education and alternatives, they risk being drawn into cycles of violence that threaten community safety and long-term stability.
This project delivers youth peace education in Goma, combining awareness campaigns on small arms dangers, interactive workshops, and community peace clubs. Young people gain skills in conflict resolution, leadership, and nonviolence. Through mentorship, media outreach, and safe spaces, they choose alternatives to armed groups and become local peace ambassadors.
By reducing youth recruitment into armed groups, this project strengthens peace and stability in Goma. Trained youth leaders spread nonviolence, influencing peers and future generations.
