Look beyond her disability.
See the woman who wants to earn a living.
See the mother who wants to provide for her children.
See the young woman with dreams for her future.
See the entrepreneur waiting for an opportunity.
See the community leader whose voice deserves to be heard.
See her possibilities.
For many women with disabilities, however, those possibilities are constrained by barriers they did not create. Discrimination, social exclusion, limited livelihood opportunities, and economic dependence can leave them particularly vulnerable to gender-based violence, exploitation, and abuse.
And too often, their experiences remain unseen and their voices unheard.
At GoGreen, we want to help change that.
Through our Protecting Disabled Women from Gender-Based Violence project, we are working to ensure that women with disabilities are not simply seen as people who need protection, but as women with strengths, talents, ambitions, and the capacity to shape their own futures.
Because protection from violence is only part of the journey.
A woman also needs the confidence to speak for herself. She needs to know her rights. She needs access to supportive networks and services. She needs opportunities to develop livelihoods and become more self-reliant. And she needs a community that recognizes her dignity and values her contribution.
