This project provides inclusive Ebola prevention through sign language videos, audio messages, Braille materials, and community outreach. Ebola remains a serious health threat in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. During outbreaks, many deaf, blind, and physically disabled people are excluded from critical prevention information because health messages are often shared through inaccessible formats. This creates fear, misinformation, delayed treatment, and higher risks of infection among communities already facing barriers to healthcare access.
This project will make Ebola prevention information accessible for people with disabilities in Goma. We will create sign language videos, distribute audio health messages, provide Braille materials, and train local community educators to share Ebola safety practices. By adapting communication methods to different disabilities, the project ensures everyone can understand prevention measures and respond quickly during health emergencies.
This project will create a more inclusive health system where people with disabilities are recognized, informed, and protected during future Ebola outbreaks and other emergencies. Accessible health communication will reduce misinformation, encourage early care-seeking, and strengthen community resilience. Over time, thousands of vulnerable people in Goma will have equal access to lifesaving information.
