In Goma, thousands of people with disabilities are left out of lifesaving Ebola prevention information because messages are not accessible. This project will help deaf, blind, and physically disabled people stay safe through sign language videos, audio messages, accessible community outreach, and an inclusive Ebola alert system. Donations fund accessible communication tools, training, and awareness campaigns that can protect more than 20,000 people.
Ebola outbreaks remain a serious threat in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. Yet many deaf, blind, and disabled people cannot access Ebola prevention messages shared through radio, posters, or public meetings. As misinformation spreads, these communities face greater risks of infection and delayed treatment. Without accessible health communication, thousands remain excluded from vital disease prevention and early warning systems.
This project will make Ebola prevention information accessible to everyone in Goma. We will produce sign language videos, audio messages, illustrated materials, and social media content adapted for people with disabilities. We will train 50 community leaders, strengthen disability organizations, and establish an accessible WhatsApp alert system so suspected Ebola cases can be reported quickly and connected to health services.
This project will create lasting access to inclusive health communication in Goma. People with disabilities will gain the knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves during Ebola outbreaks and future public health emergencies. Trained community leaders and disability organizations will continue sharing lifesaving information, reducing health inequalities and helping build safer, more resilient communities for years to come.
