This amazing project provides refuge and safety to children who would otherwise be vulnerable to abuse and violence on the streets of Kinshasa. Shaki offers the children in her home, food, clean clothes, health care and a roof over their heads at night. Otherwise they would face another day waking up under a market stall. This work gives these marginalised children stability and hope for a positive future.
Street children in D.R.Congo are at risk of abuse and sexual exploitation. Addiction and prostitution are ways of survival for street children in Kinshasa; their basic needs and human rights are tragically ignored.
Due to her own appalling experiences growing up on the streets in Kinshasa, Shaki is offering these children protection and a safe alternative meeting their basic needs of shelter, food and positive human contact. Please help her to do more.
The children supported by Shaki will have the opportunity to attend school and improve their life chances with a positive income so they will not be dependant on prostitution. They will be able to stop the cycle of dependency and become independent and reintegrated with their families and society. This will have a positive impact on a reduction in crime and building a constructive and integrated local community.
