A big win for Cambodian children

With the support of foundations, organizations, and individual donors like you, PATH’s Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccine team continues to bring lifesaving protection to children at risk of this devastating disease.

In January and February, we reached 260,000 more children in JE-affected Cambodia. The country is already using the vaccines to save and protect lives in many areas. Now, leaders are working to bring immunizations to children nationwide.

Through a successful, donor-funded effort, we helped the vaccine reach families in six provinces, including two that have never had access before. Throughout these areas, families greeted the campaigns with excitement, lining up to make sure their children were included.

Effective and lifesaving immunization campaigns take a lot of behind-the-scenes work—and PATH was there at every step. We supported local leaders to train health care workers and revise guidance materials, help program managers and workers keep the vaccines stocked and on hand, and make sure systems were in place to monitor efforts and continue to improve campaigns over time.

In addition, we’re continuing to support the Cambodian Ministry of Health to strengthen and maintain vaccination throughout the country, ensuring that vaccines safely and effectively reach children for years to come.

Now we’ll continue this work in other JE-affected Asian countries—tenaciously driving the vaccine forward whenever possible. Our goal? A world where no child or family has to fear JE. With your help, we are moving closer every day.

Thank you!
