Vitamin A deficiency affects the lives of an estimated 20 million children in India. Over 50,000 Indian children go blind every year due to a lack of vitamin A in their diets. The simple act of providing a twice-yearly dose of vitamin A to children ages five and under will protect them from vitamin A-related blindness and may make the difference between life and death.
Our network travels to remote rural areas and urban slums identifying children suffering from malnutrition. We educate parents on the benefits of vitamin A and provide that vital nutrient, twice a year, to thousands of children throughout India.
Children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years on SevaChild's vitamin A program will be protected from the life-threatening illnesses associated with vitamin A deficiency during these young ages giving them the opportunity to live and thrive as every child should.
