"Come and See Me-I'm Walking Now"

By NSPPL Organization | Project Leader

Dear Valued Supporter,

There was a moment Fatima thought she might never experience again:

standing on her feet and walking toward her family.

Fatima is a 55-year-old Syrian woman living with her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren. Years of loss, chronic illness, recurring infections, and several heart attacks eventually led to the amputation of her right leg below the knee.

The physical loss was devastating—but so was the emotional impact.

Fatima began to feel that she had lost her independence and had become a burden on the people she loved most.

Three months ago, she came to our center in Reyhanli, where our team provided a comprehensive assessment and began supporting her through both physical and psychological rehabilitation.

During her journey, Fatima shared something that stayed with our team: “I saw myself in a dream, walking, even though I knew I didn’t have a leg.”

Slowly, that dream began to feel possible.

With continued psychological support, rehabilitation sessions, and technical assistance from the center, Fatima regained confidence in herself—and eventually took her first steps after the amputation.

The moment was deeply emotional.

With tears of joy, she called her grandchildren and said: “Come and see me—I’m walking now!”

Your support helps make moments like this possible.

It provides people like Fatima with more than rehabilitation. It helps restore independence, confidence, dignity, and the belief that life can still move forward after profound loss.

Thank you for helping individuals with disabilities rediscover what they are capable of—and for giving families moments of hope they will never forget.

With heartfelt gratitude,
