2020 has started very well for Ncinci Ones Montessori, as our toilet block building has begun :-)   This was made possible by the hard work of the Montessori Global Growth Fund who have fundraised all the monies to complete our building.

The children are excited about the building and the boys enjoy going outside to watch the builders.

We have had a lot a lot of rain here during February, so we are hoping that March will be a little bit drier, so that we can complete the structure.

Thank you very much to all of you for your kind donations to build "proper" toilets for the 80 children that use our centre daily. We really appreciate your support!

Another update and pics to follow in April :-)

Gratefully yours

Our ablution block is back on track to start building in January 2020!  Thank you very much to the additional donors who came on board to to assist with this project.

We have partnered with Scandinavian Water Saving Products and we will be installing 3 Solar toilets, which are also fan assisted; there will be 2 urinals and 3 handbasins. These toilets are composting and are kind to the environment.  We will be using the contents of the composting boxes to create humanure, which can be used around trees in a year's time.

We are all very excited for this project to start early in the new year.

Wishing you all a lovely festive season

Kind regards

Dawn

Hi, We joined the GlobalGiving little x little campaign in April 2019 and due to your kindness and generosity we were blessed to raise close to ZAR 38 000 to build proper toilets for the children. It took a while to source and secure an experienced builder in our rural area, but this did happen at end of July. We got a list of all the building materials and plumbing parts that would be needed for the toilets and sent it off to get 3 quotes. The best option came back quoting ZAR 55 000 for materials, and this does not include any wages. For this reason, we have urgently opened our Proper Toilets fundraiser again. Our 2 tin long drops are totally inadequate for the 81 children using our educational center daily. Thank you very much. Dawn

We would like to say a very special thank you to each and every donor that supported our Proper toilets fundraiser in the GlobalGiving little x little campaign - because of your amazing generosity, we made our target and our project is now fully funded! Thank you so much for supporting this much-needed initiative!

The local builder from our village is away and will be back towards the end of May.  We will be meeting with him then to discuss the design and building of the toilets.  In the meantime, we are get costings on the various internal fixtures and fittings and getting design options together. This excercise is great fun!  The toilets will be built by local men from the village.

The current tin long drop toilets will be dismantled when we build the new toilets.  The tin panels will be painted and then dug in to the ground around our vegetable beds in the garden, to keep the pigs out!

Thank you very much to all the donors who walked this road with us - you are changing childrens lives!

Next report in June, with building pics :-)
