Celebrating 25 Years and Growing a Greener Future

By Cesar Barbosa Garcia | Engagement Coordinator

What a year — and what a very special milestone.

Thanks to your support, Rainforest Rescue’s 25th Anniversary was filled with record-breaking achievements: more native trees propagated and planted than ever before, more land protected – including the significant new addition of 110 Cape Tribulation Road to our growing Portfolio of Protection – and greater momentum for restoring precious rainforest habitat in the Daintree.

It was a year of deep reflection, remembering where we began, and recognising how far we’ve come—together.

From joyful events like our 2024 Annual Community Tree Planting to new collaborations with Conservation Partners and Business Partners, every step taken in 2024 strengthened our shared vision: protecting and restoring rainforests forever.

As we close this anniversary chapter, we are excited to look ahead.

Growing the Future: Restoration, Resilience, and a Green Economy

The Daintree Rainforest is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth—and its future depends not just on protection, but on restoration.

With the expansion of our Daintree Native Nursery, Rainforest Rescue is now poised to produce up to 150,000 native rainforest trees annually. These trees are critical to re-establishing wildlife corridors, restoring damaged land, and supporting threatened species like the endangered Southern Cassowary.

Land like 110 Cape Tribulation Road represents the future of conservation: properties where we will not only protect what's left, but actively rebuild rainforest ecosystems for generations to come.

We are also working to catalyse a local green economy, helping farmers and landowners participate in emerging biodiversity and carbon markets. This will bring new revenue streams that reward conservation and land stewardship—a critical shift as the region adapts to life beyond traditional industries like sugarcane farming.

Together, we are building a resilient future where rainforest protection is not just a passion, but a practical foundation for local prosperity.

For the rainforests!
